Team role

Beaver Volunteer Experience Lead

A role in the Volunteer Experience Team.

Purpose of the role

The Beaver Volunteer Experience Lead is part of the Volunteer Experience Team, supporting volunteers in Beaver Colonies across the District to deliver a great programme for young people.

They bring Beaver volunteers together, help Colonies share ideas and good practice, and make it easier for volunteers to access the knowledge, resources and support available across the District.

The role works alongside the District Events and Activities Teams, which provide District-wide events, adventurous activities and specialist activity support.

Responsibilities

The Beaver Volunteer Experience Lead will:

  • Get to know Beaver volunteers across the District and help create a friendly, supportive network between our Beaver Colonies.
  • Run and chair regular District Beaver Leader Meetings, bringing Beaver volunteers together to share updates, discuss ideas and challenges, and shape how the District can support its Beaver Colonies.
  • Bring volunteers together to share programme ideas, resources, experiences and good practice.
  • Help Beaver volunteers find the programme resources, knowledge and support they need, connecting them with other volunteers and District teams where useful.
  • Encourage Colonies to work together where sharing ideas, skills or opportunities could make delivering a great Beaver programme easier.
  • Support volunteers with developments in the Beaver programme and help Colonies provide a broad range of opportunities, including progress towards Top Awards.
  • Listen to Beaver volunteers, understand what would help them, and share common needs and opportunities with the wider District team.

What success looks like

Beaver volunteers feel connected to a wider community across the District and know where they can go for ideas, advice and support.

Good ideas, resources and experience are shared between Colonies, making it easier for volunteers to deliver varied and engaging programmes without every team having to reinvent the wheel.

District Beaver Leader Meetings are useful, welcoming and collaborative, giving volunteers an opportunity to share ideas, raise common challenges and influence the support provided by the District.

Beaver Colonies collaborate where it makes sense, and the District understands what its Beaver volunteers need so that the right support, activities and events can be provided.
